Rayliza Initiatives supports more than 500 adolescent female students in Woe on Vals Day
A Christian Non Government Organization, Rayliza Initiatives has kick started an initiative to help eradicate teenage pregnancy among adolescent females and to encourage them to stay focused while in school.
The event which happened on the 14th of February, 2020, gathered more than 500 adolescent female students from the five (5) public basic schools in Woe under the Anloga district.
According to the Chief Executive Officer, Rev. Dr. Raymond Sogah, it is worrying to continually hear the adolescent female students get pregnant in the community which often results to lack of focus in life and in education.
“It is sad that situations that surrounds some families in the village, causes some adolescent female students to depend on their male friends. And these male friends, who turn to provide some basic needs to them, eventually take advantage of them. It’s bad and it’s wrong”
He further admonished the parents to be more responsible in bringing up their children in the way of God and not to deliberately use their children as a means of getting money from men.
The NGO, with the support of some individuals and organizations, donated more than 500 sanitary pads to the attendees of the program. The donation was preceded by lectures delivered on the Girl Child Related topics by the Girl Child Education Coordinator in the Keta Municipality, Madam Aurelia Tudzi, Girl Child Education Coordinator in the Anloga District, Madam Joan Dzigbordi Avemega and the Keta municipal health education Officer, Madam. Joan Dzigbordi Avemega.
Some participants who spoke to Rayliza Tv, appreciated the outcome of the program and further requested for the program to be organized more often.
Meanwhile, organizers of the program say the program will happen at least three times in a year whilst they also pray for support.
